A & P SHOW WRITING

A & P SHOW WRITING

INTRODUCTION:
The A & P show is a fun an interactive fair in Christchurch. People should go to the A & P show because their are lots of really exciting things to see and do.

ANIMALS AND EXCITEMENT:
If you take a look down the right side of the show you will find yourself by a gigantic green shed where there are animals galore from all over Christchurch. There are so many animals to see like rams , bulls , pigs , ducks and more!
Down the far end of the shed their hangs an enormous banner saying “ BABY ANIMAL FARMYARD “ , where you can see so many cute baby animals. There is also a hive of bees and the competition is to find the queen be and a win a free honey lozenger. In the baby animal farmyard you will find piglets , bunnies , chickens and even big fat turkeys!

FREEBIES:
There are many things at the A & P show but if you take a look down the left side of the show , in the distance you can probably spot a humongous gray shed with a red stripe across the top about 2 metres from the roof. As you walk into the shed there will be so many freebies like , lollies , fans , friz - bees and even a discount on a mop. But that's not all you can find for free. As you walk off outside there is a paddock with professional horse riders and you can even pat them. You will soon close to an exit and find across the wavy green grass the Fonterra milk challenge. First you download the app on a phone then you find an answer all the questions and if you find them all you score a free smoothie on a smoothie bike plus you get a free drink bottle and wristbands.

PHYSICAL SPORTS:
There are also lots of sports at the A & P show that you probably never would have thought of like woodchopping , gumboot throwing , horse riding and so much more! While I had a go at the gumboot throw I didn’t exactly score very far because the gumboot can actually be pretty heavy. The horse riders are professional as I may have explained and it is held in a gigantic white ring on the far left side of the show.

CONCLUSION:

Now from all of these fantastic facts I think you should go to the A & P show because there are so many amazing things to see and do!

T4 Wk 5 - MY FIREWORKS OPINION

MY FIREWORKS OPINION

THE DANGERS OF FIREWORKS:
My opinion on fireworks is that fireworks should only be allowed at a certain time of year in public displays. Fireworks should not be sold to the public in back yards because they can scare animals and disturb neighbors. The problem is that not everyone can afford to watch public firework displays. The only time of year that fireworks should be sold is on the New Zealand calendar. The only type of fireworks that should be allowed are sparklers because they are safer to handle. Fireworks should be sold in stores but only on public events.
THE FIREWORK DUCK:
There have been many injuries caused by animal cruelty and one of them is what I will tell you today. One guy fawkes night a fully grown adult duck had fireworks placed into its beak by an unknown victim. Sadly the fireworks exploded in the duck’s mouth, breaking it. It was found by the SPCA veterinary in Auckland and had to be put to death.
THE NEW ZEALAND CALENDAR:
I strongly think that fireworks should still be sold in stores but only on New Zealand public holidays because Guy fawkes is on the Europe calendar and is about blowing up parliament. Parihaka happened on the exact same day of Guy fawkes and I think instead of celebrating things that originate from other countries we should remember Parihaka , the day our land was taken from us Maori and there was made a peaceful protest and Te Whiti o rongomai stood tall.
THE LIVES AND DEATHS OF FIREWORK ACCIDENTS:
On July 5, 2016, a 26-year-old male from Kansas fell off the roof of his home after a mortar type of fireworks device exploded in his hand near his chest. According to the witnesses, the victim was on his roof shooting firearms and the explosion knocked the victim backwards off the roof. On May 15, 2016, a 38-year-old male from Arizona was fatally injured in the garage of his single-family home while apparently attempting to manufacture fireworks. In the victim’s home, investigators found a large quantity of fireworks and firework manufacturing components, which had been purchased online from an out-of-state supplier.
CONCLUSION:
From all of these horrid accidents we now know that fireworks should be sold in stores and can be let off in your back yard but just to be careful and not light them near dry grass , make sure if you have animals keep them inside and to only let them off on concrete and make sure that small children stay back.
